HAIKU
Hi Ballers,
Find your partner and peruse (meaning take a few minutes not 30 seconds) this artistic location find some inspiration. Which pieces of art speaks to you? why?
Your task here is to write a couple traditional Japanese Haiku, or as you might recognize it as, a 俳句 (pronounced high-koo). What is a haiku you ask? We’re getting there….patience. A Haiku is a short three-line 5-7-5 syllable poem that uses sensory language to capture a feeling or image. Haiku poetry was originally developed by Japanese poets. They are often inspired by nature, a moment of beauty, or poignant experience.
Here are some examples:
Haikus are easy.
But sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.
Company coming?
And your house is a big mess?
Just put on lipstick.
You use computers.
IPods, mobiles, cameras.
Why not write letters?
Now it’s your turn. Write a haiku based on the art you see and either send it to the artist, or send it to someone you care about and text it to them.
