FOLDING STORY
Hello find your fellow snowballers and a comfortable place to settle in, we'll be here for a little while. Find the apppropriate papers and pens for you activity. Your first task is 'Consequences' an old parlour game. A parlour game is a group game played indoors. During the Victorian era in Great Britain, these games were extremely popular among the upper and middle classes. They were often played in a parlour, hence the name, duuhhh. Feel free to take on an english accent, it would be most appropriate. Consequences is a folding story where each person takes a turn writing a word or phrase forming part of a set structure in order to build a story. The sequence goes like this:
1. Adjective for man
2. Man's name
3. Adjective for woman
4. Woman's name
5. Where they met
6. What he wore
7. What she wore
8. What he said to her
9. What she said to him
10. The consequence (a description of what happened after)
11. What the world said
Then the story is read (for example):
Mediocre Joe met transparent Kim at the bowling alley. Joe wore a seafoam green leisure suit. Kim wore a sandwich board. Joe said to Kim “During the last storm, we had a little party in the mud.” Kim said “She wasn’t that into me.” As a consequence, the band got back together. And the world said “Somehow, I think I saw this coming.”
Got it? Get it? Good! Now it's your turn. Start at the top of the receipt and answer each question, once answered fold backwards so no one can see until the final reveal. Once everyone answers #1 pass to the left, answer, fold, pass, & repeat until the #11. Pass one last final time, unfold and share the masterpiece aloud and proud.
