DR. SUESS
Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
Give them a high five while whispering 'Snowball'. Head over to the Dr. Seuss section.
Did you know Dr. Seuss...
1. Often came up with story ideas by doodling.
2. Friend's bet that he couldn’t write a book with just 50 different words, and so, Green Eggs and Ham was born.
3. Kept a closet full of wacky hats. Whenever he was stumped writing, he’d put on a suitable hat to help the words flow.
4. It took him over a year to write Cat in the Hat—and it only uses 236 different words!
5. Full name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, but his friends called him Ted.
6. Wrote at least 60 children's books. He also wrote two adult books, one of which, The Seven Lady Godivas, featured nude females.
7. Chances are, you're mispronouncing Seuss' name. The author's name is supposed to rhyme with 'voice', and thus pronounced, 'Zoyce' or 'Soice'. Given the authors legacy, we're guessing the mispronunciation will stick.
Find 'Oh, the places you'll go' and Rock/Paper/Sizzors to decide who will read it aloud and who will listen. Keep an ear out for great advice Dr. Suess was chock-a-blocked full of grand advice and wisdom.
If you still have time. Try writing a haiku or poem with a Dr. Suess feel to it.
